In 2002 I was passed some research that was apparently carried out in
the 1940/50s, in it, it makes a reference from Burke's Colonial Gentry
Part 1 in regard to the Trangmar family.

"This family originally came from Normandy, one branch settled for
several centuries at Portslade, Sussex, another at Scarborough, Yorkshire
,
which latter spell their name Tranmar / Tranmer. During the last 200 years
the name has been variously spelt viz:- Tranmere, Tangmere, and Tranma,
but for the last 120 years with the exception of the Yorkshire branch the
name has uniformly been spelt Trangmar."

Therefore I have started to colate a database containing the Tranmar /
Tranmer references, although I have yet to put together a family tree I
hope to start on this project soon.

I would very much appreciate any information on this branch of the family
likewise gladly share anything I presently have.

So far I have not found any reference to those who originally settled at
Scarborough, being a sea-faring family they have been noted at various
coastal locations.
